Angels of Love used the grant to establish the Angels of Love Legal Advocacy Project. Over the past 10 years, Angels of Love has provided services to Domestic Violence victims.
The Angels of Love Advocacy Project’s mission is to end dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in the Rio Grande Valley. The Angels of Love Advocacy Project empowers survivors through free legal services and access to the justice system, and advances prevention through community outreach and education. Our Domestic Violence Advocates, attorneys, staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors are committed to advancing our vision that all residents of the Rio Grande Valley live free from abuse. Advocacy services have a huge impact on the restoration and healing for victims of crime, our office could not do this work without the support and funding from the state and local officials. With nearly one million residents in the County of Hidalgo these grants are vital to the healing of our most vulnerable community members and they will help us continue our mission to serve victims of domestic violence with dignity, respect, and compassion.”
The services provided to victims by the Angels of Love Advocacy Project will include: domestic violence advocates and specialty staff to assist in obtaining protective orders, developing safety plans, providing crisis intervention and victim advocacy, providing victims with case notifications, education on the criminal justice process, assistance with crime victim compensation, registering victims for the Victim Information Notification Everyday (VINE), providing court accompaniment and referrals to community based programs for counseling, other legal services, emergency shelter and other social services needed.
